This policy describes information collected through NYRegistration.org and our registration, renewal, support and related communications. We are a private registration service, not a government agency. This policy explains our practices; using the site or accepting our Terms of Use does not by itself consent to optional tracking or marketing.
Privacy Choices / Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Opt Out of Targeted Advertising
Information we collect
- Registration and contact information: names, email address, phone number, mailing and billing addresses, license plate, vehicle details, registration expiration, signatures, service selections and information you provide to support.
- Transactions: orders, payment-provider customer and transaction identifiers, payment status, refunds and limited payment-method details. Stripe or Braintree collects payment details through its payment tools.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, session and security information. Optional advertising tools may collect visit, referral and conversion information when permitted by your choices.
- Optional insurance comparisons: information you submit or allow for that service, such as ZIP code, age, insurance status, home ownership and vehicle count, together with technical and referral information sent to the comparison provider.
How we use information
We use information to process renewals with the DMV, provide requested services, handle payments and refunds, deliver documents and renewal reminders, respond to support requests, prevent fraud, secure staff access, maintain records and meet legal obligations. With the appropriate optional permissions, we measure advertising conversions and display insurance advertisements or comparisons. We do not use acceptance of a cookie banner as permission to send marketing emails or texts.
Who receives information
We disclose information as needed to the DMV and service providers supporting registration processing, hosting, security, payments and communications. These include Stripe or Braintree for payments, Mailgun for email, Twilio for texts, and Google reCAPTCHA for contact-form security. Google Fonts supplies the fonts used on the site and receives ordinary connection information when fonts are requested.
If you enable advertising, Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising/Bing may receive visit and conversion information. Optional insurance-ad listings use QuinStreet/NextInsure and may display providers’ remotely hosted logos and links. Following a link or requesting a quote from another provider takes you to that provider’s services and privacy practices. We may receive compensation for referrals. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards.
Advertising-related disclosures can be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws even without a direct payment for personal information. You can opt out through Privacy Choices. That opt-out does not stop information needed to fulfill your registration or payment request.
Cookies and similar technologies
A bottom banner is offered to new visitors in every location. Optional purposes are off until you allow them. “Necessary only” rejects all optional purposes; “Accept all” enables them; “Customize” lets you choose by purpose. Scrolling, browsing or closing the browser is not consent. You can revisit these controls at any time.

Saving a change reloads the page to stop optional integrations that were already running. When permission is withdrawn, we remove accessible, recognized first-party tracking cookies. We cannot remove cookies stored on other companies’ domains or recall information already disclosed. Browser settings can help remove those cookies.
Choices apply to this browser and website. They are not automatically synchronized to other browsers or devices. Clearing cookies, using private browsing or reaching the end of the preference period can reset the choice.
Global Privacy Control
We honor a recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal by turning optional tracking off, including advertising-related sale or sharing. An existing acceptance does not silently override that signal. To enable optional purposes despite GPC, you must make a separate confirmation in Privacy Choices. You can withdraw that permission at any time. General Do Not Track settings do not enable optional tracking.
Communications and your other privacy rights
Cookie choices are separate from marketing and renewal-program preferences. Use an email’s unsubscribe instructions, reply STOP where offered for texts, or contact us to change communication preferences. Necessary transaction and service messages may continue. Standard messaging and data rates may apply.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your information, or an opt-out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and may appeal a decision. An authorized agent may contact us on your behalf. We may reasonably verify your identity and the agent’s authority, and some records must be retained for legal, fraud-prevention or transaction purposes. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Retention and security
We retain registration, payment, support and security records for as long as reasonably needed to provide services, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and satisfy legal or accounting obligations. The period depends on the information and purpose; changing cookie choices does not delete required transaction records. We use access controls, encryption and other safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
Children, processing locations and updates
This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied it. We and our providers may process information in the United States or other countries where providers operate. We will update this policy when practices change and revise the date above. Material changes to optional purposes may require a fresh choice.
